My students are divided into five groups. They rotate through five stationary centers each week and then choose other centers after finishing their first center. I designed each of my stationary centers around the five major components of reading.

Guided Reading

Sounds Station

At this center students work on activities that focus on
beginning and ending sounds.

Listening Station

Students listen to books related to current theme and complete a
response sheet that focuses on comprehension, main characters,
setting,etc.

Creation Station

At this station students complete an art project related to
literature associated with the current theme.

Word Work

At this station students put together sentences, work with word
families and play sight word games.
