Your child will be bringing home word lists soon after school begins. They will be sent home in a Word List notebook. Word List 1 will be inside the notebook along with a list of suggested activities you can choose from to help your child learn each word list. When your child has completed activities and feels confident that he/she "instantly" recognizes  words on the list, please sign and return the notebook.
    (High frequency words are those words that occur most often in print. Rather than having to sound them out individually, children will be able to read more fluently if these words are recognized instantly. I tell students that their brains are like the little chips inside a computer that remember things. Just as information is stored in the computer's memory, these words need to be stored in their personal memories. I call these words "My PC Words.")
    Your child will be asked to identify words randomly. If they are successful the next word list will be sent home.
